Senior researcher at Barcelona Supercomputing Center

Jens Grivolla is a senior researcher in the Language Technology group of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. With over 20 years of experience in Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning his current focus is on Large Language Models and their applications. The Language Technologies Unit at BSC works in several NLP areas, such as massive language model building, machine translation, speech technologies, HPC computing and unsupervised learning for under-resourced languages and domains. It has been entrusted by the Spanish and the Catalan governments with the mission to develop essential open-source resources and technologies, and is currently training the largest LLM to date focused on Spanish and co-official languages. The BSC is home to the recently inaugurated MareNostrum 5 supercomputer, which with its 4480 NVIDIA H100 GPUs is one of the most powerful in the world.
